Golden Wolf Insights: What 13 years has taught us

This July marks 13 years of Golden Wolf. We’ve watched our industry reinvent itself time and time again. We’ve lived through the shift from CG to Social, from TV to TikTok. Every new platform, technology and trend has changed how we make work, but not why we make it.

Here are some lessons we’ve learned along the way.

Craft is remembered

We don’t define ourselves by a single medium. We define ourselves by our standards, our curiosity and our belief that great ideas, exceptional craft and unforgettable storytelling will always outperform.

Even prior to the rise of AI-generated content, our commitment to top-tier craft and storytelling is what made our work stand out in a crowded advertising landscape. And it’s no different now. Everyone can generate content. But no matter the tool we use, the difference is in strong ideas, and stronger execution.

It’s a team sport

Every project we work on is touched by multiple people who genuinely care.

We have a team of creatives and producers who each carry unique perspectives and expertise - often hopping between projects, problem solving, and sparking new ideas wherever they land.

Rather than routing for a traditional director-led model, we operate with a ‘no egos’ mindset, where every voice is heard and considered, and we feel this amounts to the work shining bolder and brighter.

Stay curious

We’ve remained agile over the years by staying curious and playful.

We are always open to new trends, new tech, new ways of working, and approach with zero pressure to engage, only to learn and play.

You’re only as good as your last project

Every project is an audition for the next.

Whether it’s client number one or client number three hundred, we carry the attitude that each new brief starts from zero. This keeps us accountable and always pushing for our best.

Make work people care about

There’s a lot of content out there.

What we keep relearning is that the goal is never to add to the pile, it’s to make something worth stopping for and which stands the test of time.

Brands don’t need more content; they need more attention.

Time is a commodity, and we aim to reward the viewer for their time.

You have to turn up to be seen

Maybe the simplest lesson from thirteen years: none of this happens from behind a closed door.

We engage with our community as much as we can - attending and presenting at industry events, inviting talent to the studio, student talks, workshops, panels, parties, and always making a concerted effort to show up in the arts.

The industry is tough as it is, and we want to champion and empower creatives on their journey, and, in doing so, we’ve built a creative community we are genuinely proud to be a part of.
